8-yr-old boy asks for one thing before operation – when he wakes up, parents see what doctor has done

Eight-year-old Jackson McKie has been forced to spend much of his short life in hospital. He was born with hydrocephalus, also called “water on the brain.”

He has undergone several operations – always with his parents and his favorite teddy bear “Little Baby” by his side.

Jackson also has a cyst on his brain and before his latest operation Jackson had a special request for his doctor, Dr Daniel McNeely, before he was anesthetized.

Most doctors would have laughed off a request like Jackson’s but not Dr McNeely.

Not wanting his special bear to feel left out Jackson asked Dr McNeely if he could perform the same operation on Little Baby.

“I thought if there was something I could do to help make him feel better, it seemed like a simple gesture and I was only too happy to oblige,” Dr McNeely told  CTV News Atlantic .

The doctor asked the nurses to prepare a small table with some tools to fulful Jackson’s special request.

Jackson’s dad Rick McKie was so moved by Dr McNeely’s kind gesture.

“He’s one of the nicest human beings I’ve ever met,” Rick McKie said according to  CTV News Atlantic  adding “He is one of the kindest people I have ever met.”

So when Jackson woke up he saw that “Little Baby” had also gone through the same operation.

McNeely posted the photos online with the caption “Patient asks if I can also fix teddy bear just before being put off to sleep … how could I say no?”

The tweet quickly went viral with thousands of people responding to the doctor’s sweet gesture.

Talk about above and beyond the call of duty! Jackson undoubtedly deserves some joy in his life after all these tough operations and I’m so glad Dr McNeely can help him along the way.
