Man called ‘pervert’ for using men’s bathroom while women present

Large events like concerts can be a lot of fun, but they often come with inevitable challenges, one of the toughest being the bathroom situation.

When intermissions finally arrive or things start to get busier, the lack of bathroom space is almost unavoidable. While men typically finish their business faster, it’s understandable that some women opt to use the men’s restroom rather than wait in a long line.

However, a problem arises when these female visitors start imposing their own rules and shaming men for using urinals in their presence, as highlighted by this man’s recent experience. Keep reading to find out what happened!

A man attending a major concert with his girlfriend found himself in need of a restroom break midway through the event.

Taking to Reddit’s ‘Am I The A*****e‘ thread, the man explained that the concert was mostly attended by women, but that he had been convinced to go by his girlfriend. Halfway through, he needed to go for a bathroom break, and noticed that there was a line of women entering the men’s toilets due to overcrowding in the women’s.

Despite being the only male in the restroom, he followed his standard bathroom protocol, heading to the urinals to relieve himself. However, upon exiting, he was confronted by a woman who accused him of inappropriate behavior.

The man wrote that she “went off on how I’m a pervert and a sex pest for exposing myself to women. She said that I should’ve waited for a cubicle to open and that it’s a shame what I did wasn’t technically illegal.”

In his post, he defended his actions, adding: “I did not pull down my pants and underwear while taking a leak, I just opened my fly, which was pointed away from everyone’s view. There was no-one at my periphery.”

To make matters worse, the man’s girlfriend weighed in on the situation. When explaining the situation to her, he did say that he felt he could have waited for a cubicle to become available. In response, he wrote that his girlfriend said that “while she’d never break up with me over such mundane things, this has caused her to change the way she looks at me, in terms of how considerate and thoughtful I am, and that I should’ve waited for a cubicle to free up.”

The man then asked the Reddit community whether he was the a*****e in the situation, and many people had their say in the comments – the response was overwhelmingly in the man’s favor.

One woman believed that the man received unnecessary hate, saying: “I’m a woman and remember using men’s rooms because there was no way I’d last the line at the women’s. I never expected a guy to wait or leave. You don’t want to see a penis, don’t go to the men’s room.”

Someone else added: “If you’re using a men’s restroom on purpose you have to expect that men will be in the restroom!”

A further user even wrote that the man’s girlfriend’s response was a “red flag”: “Woman here. The unwritten and widely understood rule is if you use the men’s, men may be peeing in the urinals. No excuse for them to be getting upset about it. Queue for the women’s if it bothers them.

“Calling you a perv for using the facilities is bang out of order. Quite honestly, f**k your GFs opinion and little speech about how she sees you. Red flag my dude. I’d reconsider how you feel about her following that interaction.”
