Liam Payne, a former member of the global sensation boyband ‘One Direction,’ fell to his death on October 16th, 2024. The singer was 31 years old at the time of his death. He fell from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires.
The incident occurred around 5:00 PM in the evening at CasaSur hotel and the police were called shortly after.
Authorities were told by the hotel manager that a man had fallen from his hotel room’s balcony.
Now, officials are sharing what they found in Payne’s hotel room. They explained there was a lot of alcohol and medicines, including clonazepam, found in the hotel room. The drug is used to help control epilepsy, as well as involuntary muscle spasms and even some panic disorders.
The officials took fingerprints from the room to analyze them to further their investigation. They also took other evidence and described the scene as being in ‘total disorder’ with multiple things in the room smashed and some medication having been scattered around.
His body was found in the hotel courtyard. Next to his body, a bottle of whiskey was found as well as a lighter and a mobile phone.
Police later reported that they had been getting calls about an ‘aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol‘.
Payne was in Argentina, where he also attended the concert of his former bandmate Niall Horan. He was seen dancing at the concert venue with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
His girlfriend left two days before Payne’s tragic death. She returned to the US ahead of Payne because she felt the trip had already been too long. In a video she posted earlier she said, “Travel back to Florida with me. I was so ready to leave.”
“Honestly, I love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for like five days and it turned into two weeks and I was just like I need to go home.”
Speaking about the night, Argentine Director of Emergency Medical Services, Alberto Crescenti said on the nation’s Todo Noticias TV channel, “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.
“At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group,” he went on.
“Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation,” he ended.
