A lot of keen bird watchers and animal lovers tend to set up camera feeds with their bird feeders so they can also see what guests pay a visit to their seed buffet. An man who posted his story to Reddit possibly had similar motivations; to watch birds eat during various times of the day and also night.
But when he saw something odd, he immediately took to Reddit to share his experience. He posted a screenshot he took from his camera’s feed which showed the time as 8:08am, and explained in the text, “My bird feeder app gave me a notification that said ‘Human body detected.’ There’s what appears to be a disembodied face to the right.” He posted this to the subreddit titled, r/Weird.
In the image, a bird sits on the bird feeder’s perch, but when you look to its right, you can make out a ghostly looking human-like face.
The man talked to the media about his experience. He captured the footage ‘in the south-east of the Netherlands,’ and this was the first time he got a ‘human detected’ alert on his bird feeder’s camera app. After this incident, he got it a few times more.

He said that he did not see the ‘floating face‘ any other times he got the notification, he said he thinks the whole thing was a coincidence, saying, ‘I’m sure the bird set the alert off, and the face just happened to be a creepy coincidence.”
However, there was some confusion amongst Redditors whether it was an actual disembodied face or just an optical illusion caused by the plants in the background.
One person wrote in the thread, “Holy s*** that branch/leaf face is terrifying.”
Another shared, “I see it but I think it’s just how the branches and leaves look in that particular spot.”
Do you think it was an actual disembodied face or just a play of light and circumstances? Let us know in the comments section on Facebook.
