O.J. Simpson is dead. He was 76.
The former football star who was acquitted of murder in 1995, “succumbed to his battle with cancer” on April 10, according to a statement shared on Simpson’s social media Thursday morning.
Keep reading for more details.
Reports first surfaced in May 2023 that the former Pro Football Hall of Famer had been diagnosed with cancer after he took to X (formerly Twitter), to reveal he had previously undergone chemotherapy.
Simpson also revealed that he had been battling Covid and cancer simultaneously.
In February 2024, Miami’s Local 10 reported Simpson was currently undergoing chemotherapy. However, it was unclear if it was related to his previous battle with cancer.
Sources alleged Simpson was battling prostate cancer and receiving treatment in Las Vegas.
While Simpson has not directly addressed the recent cancer reports on X, he did reassure his followers that he is not in hospice care, contrary to certain claims made by sources. Just prior to the Super Bowl, he took to X to say: “All is well,” mentioning that he was hosting friends for the event in Las Vegas.
According to the family’s statement, Simpson was surrounded by his children and grandchildren at the time of his death.
This is a developing story.
