Cher finally breaks silence on son abduction rumors – and it’s as we all suspected

Cher has finally broken her silence to respond to the shocking rumors involving the alleged abduction of her son, Elijah Blue Allman.

The superstar singer’s daughter-in-law, Marieangela King, sensationally claimed last month that Cher had hired four men to kidnap her younger son from a New York City hotel room in November 2022 as a means of staging some sort of intervention regarding his drug addiction.

Cher shares Elijah Blue with her ex-husband Gregg Allman. Her youngest child was born on July 10, 1976, and is now 47 years old.

While Cher’s other son, Chaz Bono, routinely attracts media attention – and never more so than after his transition into a man – Allman has remained largely out of the media spotlight for the majority of his life.

That was until court documents emerged last month after having been filed in December by the aforementioned Marieangela King, reportedly during her divorce from Allman.

As per the divorce documents, King and Allman had spent 12 days alone together, beginning on November 18, 2022. Then, on November 30, everything changed when four men allegedly barged into the couple’s hotel room and ‘removed’ Allman on the night of their wedding anniversary.

“I was told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by petitioner’s mother,” King’s statement reads, according to the filed documents.

“Since August 2022, I have been told that I am not allowed to see or speak to [Allman] who is currently in lockdown at a treatment facility that is undisclosed to me. I am also told [Allman] has no access to his phone.”

King went on to allege that Believe singer Cher asked her to leave their family home in Allman’s absence.

“I did so on the belief that my support payments would be timely, and I would be able to afford housing,” King added. “I was not allowed to retrieve all my belongings from our primary home and residence, nor was I given the opportunity to inventory our assets.”

Thus far Cher has remained quiet in the wake of the allegations, but the singer has finally now responded, labeling them as false.

“That rumor is not true,” she said in a new interview with PEOPLE.

Of her son’s battle with drug addiction, she added: “I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t.

“I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children.”

“You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”
