Gene Hackman’s late wife Betsy’s final haunting images revealed

The news of Gene Hackman’s death shocked the world. People were heartbroken to learn that the Oscar-winning actor passed away, as well as his wife, Betsy Arakwa.

Now, the picture of events that unfolded before their passing is taking shape and what we are learning is heartbreaking.

Keep reading to find out more.

Gene Hackman’s wife, Betsy Arakawa’s final video image from when she was alive was found. The couple’s last few days and the timeline of events that transpired were catalogued by USA Today.

On February 11, Betsy Arakawa was captured in a surveillance video image. This would be the last time she was seen alive as she reportedly passed away on the same day.

The Santa Fe County sheriff revealed in a news conference that she was wearing a mask in the images because of the Hantavirus, which ultimately took her life. In the final video, she is seen “strolling through the aisles of a CVS Pharmacy in Santa Fe.”

A red flag that emerged was when Arakawa did not pick up the medication for the couple’s dog, according to USA Today’s report.

On February 26, the bodies of Hackman, Arakawa and their dog were discovered in their home. According to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza’s press conference, they both tested negative for carbon monoxide.

Dr. Heather Jarrell, the Chief Medical Examiner for New Mexico, said to the press that 65-year-old Arakawa’s death was due to Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. There were no findings of trauma, and the death was of natural causes according to the Medical Examiner.

Hantavirus is characterized by “flu-like symptoms,” according to Jarrell. The disease occurs because of exposure to rodent excrement. The mortality rate for the strain of virus is 38% to 50%.

95-year-old Gene Hackman died due to hypertensive, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease with Alzheimer’s Disease as a contributing factor.

The results from the actor’s preliminary pacemaker helped pinpoint the date of his death since it showed that he had cardiac activity on February 17 and an abnormal rhythm on the next day. He probably passed the next day, on February 18, a week after his wife died. Arakawa picked their dog up from the veterinarian on February 9, which could explain why the dog was still in his crate.

Arakawa visited a farmer’s market and then “was seen on surveillance video” at CVS pharmacy from 4:12 to 4:20 p.m., officials confirmed.

She also stopped at a pet food store, and her car was seen on video entering her subdivision at 5:15 p.m. There was no activity found by Arakawa after that point in time, according to officials.

This is such a heartbreaking tragedy. Share this with others who might want the latest update of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa’s death.
