Kate Middleton forced to make heartbreaking decision about her children during hospital stay
Kate Middleton has had a rough past couple of weeks, what with her undergoing an abdominal surgery serious enough to see her hospitalized for a fortnight.
Unless you’ve been on a remote island without access to the internet, you’ll know all about the Princess of Wales’s operation, not to mention the fact that the suddenness of it took royal fans the world over by surprise.
As of earlier this week Kate is now recovering at her home in Windsor, with Kensington Palace having confirmed in a statement that her procedure went well and she is “making good progress”.
Yet new information has detailed how the future Queen of England was forced to make a decision that would surely have saddened her prior to and during her hospitalization.
Royal fans the world over breathed a sigh of relief when Kate Middleton was officially discharged from the London Clinic after a 13-day stay. The princess was admitted in order to undergo abdominal surgery mid-way through January, though details as to exactly what she was suffering from have been light.
“The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress,” the Palace’s statement read earlier this morning.
“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.“
It’s been reported that the princess yet has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Prince William may now return to his official duties since his wife has come home from hospital, but Kate is likely to be forced to sit out of action until after Easter.
That said, an undoubted source of comfort is that she can now spend time with her beloved children once more. It’s been widely speculated that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Princess Louis did not visit their mother during her near-two week stay in hospital, and instead kept in touch over FaceTime.
Needless to say, that can’t have been easy for Kate, known to be a doting mother. Yet there is a reason why the three children weren’t permitted to visit the hospital alongside their father.
People Magazine cite royal biographer Ingrid Seward as having said: “I don’t think she wanted to make more of a big thing of it than it already was. They’ll be rallying ’round in their own way and helping to look after her.”
As per reports, children are generally not allowed to visit the London Clinic without explicit permission from the hospital. One can assume, of course, that permission would have been given in an instant if it pertained to the royal children.
Around the time of Kate’s hospitalization, People reported that her issue was non-cancerous, though Spanish newspaper Marca went as far as to speculate that the princess’s life may have been in danger.
According to Page Six, Kate may eventually decide to clarify certain details relating to the exact nature of her surgery, though for the time being not much has been revealed.
We’re delighted that Kate Middleton has returned home and can continue her recovery there.
