Madonna’s family give heartbreaking update as star is rushed to ICU: ‘Everyone believed we may lose her’
Singer Madonna has had a stellar career for several decades. Currently, the singer was preparing to embark on a ‘Greatest Hits’ tour where she was set to perform her music from the last four decades.
But in an unforeseen situation, the singer was admitted to the hospital. Keep reading to learn more.
Iconic singer Madonna was set to embark on her Celebration Tour next month, but it has now been postponed due to her health taking a sudden turn. The singer’s manager Guy Oseary released a statement that outlined what has happened in the last few days in Madonna’s life.
On Saturday, the singer was reportedly found unconscious in New York and rushed to a hospital due to a serious bacterial infection. Oseary wrote, “On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care.”
He wrote that “a full recovery is expected” for the 64-year-old singer. But it seems this might not have been the case since a relative of the singer said in an interview that “For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst.”
They added how the family feared the worst; losing Madonna. The relative shared, “That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday. Everyone believed that we may lose her, and that has been the reality of the situation.”
The relative relayed their concern saying Madonna “believes that she is invincible” and “has been wearing herself thin over the past couple of months”.
According to Oseary’s update, the singer’s situation seems to be in control, but her schedule will need to be adjusted. He said, “at this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.”
The singer is apparently out of the ICU but still under medical care.
The multi-award-winning singer was about to embark on the Celebration Tour, which was set to begin in Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 15. As the singer recuperates, her tour will be rescheduled to later dates.
Madonna’s last post on Instagram before the news was backstage pictures of her preparing for her upcoming tour. She captioned the post, “The calm before the storm.”
