Melania Trump reveals the two things that made her attracted to Donald Trump when they first met
Melania Trump once revealed the two key qualities that initially attracted her to Donald Trump when they met back in 1998.
In her memoir, “Melania: A Memoir,” published last October, the former First Lady opened up about her early relationship with the Republican president-elect, who officially assumed the presidency on January 20. She recounted their first meeting in a New York City nightclub during Fashion Week.
At the time, Trump had recently separated from his second wife, Marla Maples, while Slovenian-born model Melania had just moved to the United States to pursue her career. The encounter occurred at the Kit Kat Klub, where Trump approached Melania at a table in the VIP section despite being on a date with another woman. He asked for her number, but she declined and asked him to give her his number instead.

A few days later, Melania called Trump, and their first date took place at his Seven Springs property in Bedford, New York. Reflecting on their interaction, Melania, now 54, shared in her memoir that she was captivated by two things: “From the moment our conversation began, I was drawn to his charm and easygoing nature.”
Melania had previously discussed their first meeting in a 2016 Harper’s Bazaar interview, explaining her initial reluctance: “He wanted my number, but he was with a date, so of course I didn’t give it to him. I told him, ‘I am not giving you my number; you give me yours, and I will call you.'” She added that she wanted to ensure it wasn’t just a business number. Trump, eager to impress, gave her all his numbers, which caught her attention. She noted being struck by his “vitality” and “energy.”

The couple continued dating, and after several years together, Trump proposed at the 2004 Met Gala. They married the following year at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate and welcomed their son, Barron, in 2006.
Melania has also commented on her role as the First Lady and her independence. Speaking to FOX News, she said: “Maybe some people see me as just a wife of the President, but I’m standing on my own two feet. I have my own thoughts, I have my own ‘yes’ and ‘no.'”
