Michael Buble makes heartbreaking confession about young son’s cancer battle
Michael Bublé lives an enviable life of wealth, success, and fame, but the superstar singer has endured his share of trials and tribulations over the years.
One need only go back as far as 2016 to find the truth of that, when Bublé’s young son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer, aged just three.
Bublé and his wife, Argentinean actress Luisana Lopilato, immediately put their lives and careers on hold to help their son with this fight. Thankfully, in February 2018, atfter undergoing chemotherapy, Noah was reportedly “on the mend,” having entered remission in 2017.
Even so, Bublé is the first to admit that his son’s illness had a profound effect on him.
The 48-year-old recently revealed on the Diary of a CEO podcast that Noah getting cancer had “pulled the curtain from over my eyes.”
“My son’s cancer diagnosis rocked my world and pulled the curtain from over my eyes,” Bublé said on the podcast. “That was a sledgehammer to my reality. I will never be carefree again in my life, and that’s okay. It is a privilege for me to exist. That pain, the fear, the suffering that comes with those sort of things, I guess it’s part of this beautiful life.”
Not only that, but the singer also told how the terrifying ordeal not only changed his outlook on life, but convinced him to change his priorities.
“When it actually happened, I was going through, I think, a crisis,” Bublé said. “I don’t think I had my priorities straight. My family was always the love [of my life] and I don’t think I was a terrible guy, but it was blinders: career, ambition. How do I become the baddest, biggest, best? More ego, more power, more money?”
He added: “I remember closing my eyes and saying to myself, ‘If we get out of this, I’m going to live a different life, a better life.’ And I did. I made that promise to myself in like a moment. I want to be kinder. I want to be more empathetic. I don’t ever want to allow that ego and that false self to take over. I want to know how lucky I am.”
Bublé and his wife celebrated Noah’s 10 birthday last year. Bublé wrote on Instagram: “Noa, mi amor, 10 years!!! What??
“It went so fast, you don’t even know how much we love you. Thank you for teaching us how to be parents and for all the memories we have and will make together!!!”
