People demand Sandra Bullock’s Oscar to be revoked after Blind Side’s Michael Oher reveals horrifying truth
The movie ‘The Blind Side’ earned Sandra Bullock her Oscar for Best Actress and catapulted her to a new level of fame. Now, the subject of the movie, Michael Oher has made some disturbing revelations about the truth of the situation.
People are now turning to Sandra Bullock to make a statement on the issue.
Retired NFL star Michael Oher is not just popular because of his exceptional skills as an athlete but also his inspiring life story, which was immortalized in a major motion picture starring the likes of Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, and Kathy Bates, among others.
The movie shows how a wealthy white family, the Tuohys, supposedly adopts Michael Oher and pulls him out of poverty. Now Oher has petitioned a Tennessee court about the supposed adoption, saying it was never an adoption but a ‘conservatorship’ that he was misleadingly made to sign.
Oher filed a 14-page petition in a Shelby County, Tennessee, probate court saying that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy never adopted him. Instead, after he turned 18 years old, they tricked him into signing a conservatorship agreement which allowed them to make business deals in his name.
The petition also alleged that the Tuohys used the conservatorship to strike a movie deal that paid them and their two birth children millions of dollars while Oher received nothing for the story “that would not have existed without him.”
“The lie of Michael’s adoption is one upon which Co-Conservators Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy have enriched themselves at the expense of their Ward, the undersigned Michael Oher,” the legal filing said. “Michael Oher discovered this lie to his chagrin and embarrassment in February of 2023, when he learned that the Conservatorship to which he consented on the basis that doing so would make him a member of the Tuohy family, in fact provided him no familial relationship with the Tuohys.”
Sean Tuohy said in a statement to the media, that they “didn’t make any money off the movie,” only received a share of proceeds from Michael Lewis’ book, which the movie was based on.
“We’re devastated,” Sean Tuohy said. “It’s upsetting to think we would make money off any of our children. But we’re going to love Michael at 37 just like we loved him at 16.”
Since the movie in question, which catapulted this story to international fame, won actress Sandra Bullock an Oscar, people are asking her to make a statement as well. A X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, “She won a major award for the film… profited financially and professionally from play the lead role. If she wasn’t mourning her partner, journalistically/ethically, it would be fair game to ask her for a comment.”
While others pointed out that the actress deserved some grace as she was grieving a very personal loss.
The actress just lost her long-term partner Bryan Randall on August 5th this month. The family put out a statement which read, “With deep sadness, we announce that Bryan Randall peacefully departed on August 5th, concluding a valiant 3-year battle against ALS.”
But some did not think her partner passing away warranted a pass for her not to make a comment about the entire situation.
But there are some who want her Oscar to be revoked.
Sandra Bullock has not had an easy time recently with such a personal loss in her life, that of her partner Bryan Randall and now the news about her Oscar-winning role being potentially based on a lie.
