Donald Trump has once again etched his name in the history books, becoming the oldest person to take the oath of office as U.S. President. At 78 years and 220 days old, Trump surpassed the previous record set by Joe Biden, who was 78 years and 61 days at his inauguration in 2021.

Defying Age with a Lively Lifestyle

Despite his age, Trump seems as energetic as ever, diving headfirst into his second term and making quick changes. One of his most iconic habits has also returned to the spotlight—his love for Diet Coke.

Trump’s well-documented obsession with the soda first gained widespread attention in a 2017 New York Times profile, which described his daily routine as an “hour-by-hour battle for self-preservation.” The article revealed an astonishing detail: Trump consumed up to 12 Diet Cokes a day, summoning them via a special button in the Oval Office.

Social Media Reacts to the 12-Diet-Cokes-a-Day Habit

News of Trump’s soda consumption has once again ignited social media.

“12 DIET COKES A DAY?” one stunned X (formerly Twitter) user commented. Another user quipped, “12 diet cokes at 78 years old… built different,” while a third joked, “The 12 Diet Cokes a day would kill a normal human. Go Trump!”

The Return of the “Diet Coke Button”

The infamous Diet Coke button has also made its comeback. The button, installed on the Resolute Desk during Trump’s first term, was removed under Joe Biden’s presidency but has now been reinstated.

Former White House chef Andre Rush, who worked under several administrations, confirmed the button’s existence in an interview with Politico. Rush said, “He’s always been on his soda trip. That’s all he drinks, 24/7. He’s been living off it and says, ‘It hasn’t hurt me yet.’”

Rush also defended Trump against public perceptions of his unhealthy eating habits, stating, “He gets so much flack about the unhealthy side of him. He does try to eat healthy, but people don’t get to see that part of it. Bill Clinton ate just as many burgers as Trump did.”

Renovations and Nostalgia in the Oval Office

In addition to bringing back the Diet Coke button, Trump has restored much of the Oval Office’s décor to its previous state during his first term. According to the Wall Street Journal, the space now features a portrait of George Washington above the fireplace, a bust of Winston Churchill, and other familiar touches from his earlier presidency.

Trump’s humor about the button remains intact. In a 2017 interview with the Financial Times, he joked about how visitors would often misinterpret its purpose: “Everyone does get a little nervous when I press that button.”

A Unique Legacy

As Trump begins his historic second term, his quirks and larger-than-life personality continue to spark conversations. Whether it’s his love of Diet Coke, his bold decisions, or his record-breaking age, Trump remains a figure who never fails to grab the world’s attention.
